Vodafone Group wants to have its own software installed on handsets manufactured by the all the largest companies. The UK-based operator wishes all the handsets to work in the same way, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Nokia is included in the list of handset makers. The Finnish company will keep its brand name on the handsets but use the software for picture messaging, games and location-based services, which Vodafone is introducing next month.
Vodafone hope that the move will win it more loyalty from subscribers worldwide. As Europe’s largest mobile operator, Vodafone has incredible power over the handset makers.
