Vodafone is expecting to complete the sale of its Australian retail stores in four months following its review of local operations. Vodafone Australia claims to have an initial list of 20 potential bidders for its 76 Vodafone-branded stores.
The company has already agreed the sale of its 54-store Digicall retail chain to the Brackenburg Group. In addition, Vodafone Australia is outsourcing its handset distribution operations as part of a review that is aiming to cut operating costs in half.
Vodafone is the third largest mobile operator in Australia, with a 19% share of the market. Despite the operational reviews, Vodafone says that it remains committed to the Australian market and has plans to grow its operations in Southeast Asia.
