VoiceStream Wireless, the US subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, in holding merger talks with AT&T Wireless Services, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. The deal could be worth more than $10 billion.
The talks are currently at a preliminary stage and they still have a long way to go before signing a deal. However, if the merger is successful it would create the second largest mobile operator in the US.
Both companies have held unsuccessful talks with numerous other companies in the past. These talks would result in a deal that combines the companies, with VoiceStream becoming the dominant shareholder.
