Integrated social coding environment for Subversion
WANdisco, a provider of Apache Subversion-based software and services for the enterprise, has introduced open platform uberSVN to its source code management software Apache Subversion.
The new offering is designed to transform Apache Subversion into an extensible platform that empowers developers by giving them the widest choice of toolsets that best fit the business requirements in hand, the company said.
Toolset choice can be based on price or functionality, the use of open or closed source proprietary applications, and there is no vendor lock-in.
The new platform brings ‘social coding’ to Subversion as it is organised around development teams and their activities. Managers are able to see real-time progress by simply subscribing to Twitter-like feeds.
WANdisco president and CEO David Richards said now uberSVN gives Subversion users what they want – an easy to use product that they can extend, however they choose, whenever they want.
uberSVN turns Subversion into an open, extensible platform for application lifecycle management (ALM) that is easy to install, easy to use and easy to extend, with rich Subversion system and user administration capabilities, said the company.
uberSVN is built on top of WANdisco’s pure certified Subversion binaries that are put through the same rigorous testing as the company’s Enterprise Subversion offerings that support Subversion deployments.
