Microsoft is to release an update to add integrated Bluetooth support to Windows XP. Bluetooth is a short-range wireless technology, which allows PCs to connect to devices such as peripherals, mobile phones, and PDAs.
Bluetooth is already integrated into several high-end mobile phones, and is increasingly becoming more common in other devices such as notebook computers, PDAs, digital cameras and printers.
The technology is particularly useful for mobile applications such as accessing the Internet on the move through a PDA/mobile phone, or exchanging contact information between a desktop PC and PDA or mobile phone.
