Have you ever sent a text message while under the influence only to regret it when compos mentis returned? If you have, you are certainly not alone, according to the findings of a new survey, by mobile services firm Zed. The study found that three out of five mobile users have sent messages they regret when they sober up, with women being the worst offenders.
Female respondents admitted to rude texting, sending confidential messages to the wrong person and SMSing former partners after whetting their whistle. The next day women were more likely to feel guilty about the contents of their SMS messages, especially when they discovered that they sent the messages to strangers by mistake.
Zed quizzed adults between 18 and 35 and found that 78% of respondents sent up to three text messages a night when out drinking, with 22% sending four or more. The sleuths also found that one in five people have woken up to discover they had to apologize for vinous messages sent the previous night.
