Teachers and students can now engage in two-way device communication within the classroom
Wireless networks provider Xirrus has partnered with Stoneware, a web-based IT delivery applications provider to deliver new education management and monitoring applications.
By deploying Xirrus Wireless Arrays and Stoneware’s LanSchool product, teachers can have direct access and control of student devices, improving the effectiveness of 1:1 and BYOD initiatives.
LanSchool is a network-based classroom management application that enables teachers to utilise and control the access to data by mobile devices used by students in the classroom.
It also equips teachers to manage individual devices within the classroom and to view and control student devices from a master computer.
Xirrus delivers the capacity and bandwidth needed to ensure reliable access for the mobile devices teachers and students bring into the classroom while LanSchool allows teachers to manage individual devices within their classrooms.
The new combined application will deliver capabilities that include monitoring student devices, remotely blanking student screens, enabling screen-sharing, and remotely powering-down individual devices. It also allows teachers and students to engage in two-way device communication within the classroom.
In addition, the integrated captive portal supports the direct access and control from a Xirrus Array to Stoneware for automated LanSchool student downloads.
