Yahoo! Inc is still using Red Hat Inc’s Linux software and support, despite claims to the contrary by Oracle Corp chief executive Larry Ellison earlier this week.
Ellison told analysts on Tuesday that Oracle has replaced Red Hat at Yahoo and numerous other customer sites as their Linux support supplier.
Yahoo vice president of engineering Laurie Mann said in a statement yesterday: We will continue to evaluate and use the most appropriate vendors depending on our needs and their expertise. Our current infrastructure leverages both Red Hat and Oracle products.
Oracle has been selling discounted Red Hat Linux support services since October, with the explicit aim of undercutting the Linux company on its own products.
