Open source systems management software vendor Zenoss has delivered on its promise to introduce hardware and software appliance versions of its Zenoss Enterprise Edition network, server and application monitoring software.
The Annapolis, Maryland-based company has launched two Zenoss Hardware Appliance configurations as well as Zenoss Software Appliance, which is designed for use with VMware virtual machine infrastructure.
The company’s CEO, Bill Karpovich, told Computer Business Review in late July that the appliances were in the pipeline. The two hardware configurations are the Zenoss Appliance 250 and Appliance 1000 models, which support up to 250 and 1,000 managed resources respectively.
The Software Appliance, meanwhile, is a pre-configured Zenoss/Linux download bundle and can be installed with VMware on a customer’s choice of hardware.
Both the hardware and software versions use the recently introduced Zenoss Enterprise 2.0, which added commercially-licensed extensions to the open source Zenoss Core providing improved end user experience monitoring, certified application monitors, and a global dashboard giving an integrated management view across multiple distributed deployments.
The Zenoss appliances are kept up to date via the Zenoss Update Service patch and software management offering, which is available with the company’s Enterprise Support subscription offering.
