What is BT?

BT is a UK telecoms company and the largest player in the broadband, fixed telephony and mobile markets.

BT was formed in 1980 and became independent of the Post Office in 1981, which it was a part of since 1912. Prior to this the General Post Office had been the monopoly supplier of UK telecoms.

Led by CEO Gavin Patterson, BT now has an extensive presence in the four main telecoms markets, including those listed above as well as pay-TV.
