Code-division multiple access (CDMA) is a radio system used in mobile phones. CDMA, together with GSM (global system for mobiles) are the technologies that ‘lock’ a phone to a given network.

CDMA is mostly used in UHF cellular telephone systems in the range of 800-MHz to 1.9-GHz. It is also used as an access method in mobile phone standards.

The system uses a spread-spectrum multiple access technique to spread data bandwidth uniformly.
