The consumer Internet of Things relates to connected devices aimed at the consumer market.
The Internet of Things is a term first coined by British entrepreneur Kevin Ashton in 1999. It covers everything that is technologically smart and able to communicate with other devices, networks, systems, and things.
All physical things have to have an IP address and be able to communicate with other things to be considered part of the IoT.
Consumer IoT incorporates the above and is essentially the IoT product aimed at the consumer space. For example, industrial IoT is not part of the consumer IoT for obvious reasons.
Who are the main players in the consumer internet of things space?
