In its simplest sense, innovation means making changes to something that already exists, usually by introducing new methods, ideas, or products.

This can mean creating solutions to new problems or adapting to new requirements or environments.

Innovation is seen as a highly positive quality, and generally is not used to refer to changes that meet with some kind of failure.
