What is LAN?

LAN, or local area network, is a computer network that covers a small geographic area such as an office building or a university.

This sort of computer networks share a common communications line or wireless link to a server.

To communicate, LANs mostly use Ethernet and Wi-Fi technology. Despite being mostly used within a small geographic space, LANs can be connected to other LANs via telephone lines and radio waves, creating a wider LAN mesh.
