What is SAP?


SAP is a German software company.

The multinational software company provides enterprise software which helps manage business operations and customer relations.

The company was founded by five ex-IBM employees, with the company’s first product, SAP R/98, hitting the market just one year after it was founded in 1973.

The company name is an acronym standing for, ‘Systeme, Anwendungen und Produkte in der Datenverarbeitung’, or in English, ‘Systems, Applications & Products in Data Processing’.
